My start to life was a bit bumpy. I was born prematurely and nearly died, and my birth-mum never held me. When I left hospital, I went to a foster home, and from there I went to my adoptive family when I was a year and a half. These experiences left their mark, and they became buried deep in my subconscious. They left me feeling insecure, unsafe, unlovable and like I didn't belong anywhere. The beliefs that formed in my early life repeated many times through my life. And it was really only after my daughter was born that I knew something had to change. I had to change. And by change, I meant heal. So I could love her. This was the catalyst to pick up my healing journey once again, and it opened up to me so much more than I realised it would.
I found that by healing my heart, I could belong in my own skin, take up my own space, like I never had before. I no longer needed to hide, or play small, because I no longer needed to feel ashamed of myself, my past, my life.
When I look back now, I can see how far I've come. And when I look ahead, I know there is so much more to come.
Life transformed as I discovered my true worth, my gifts, my passions, and started to embody them. I discovered that I needed to address every aspect of me - not just the emotional needs that weren't met, or the beliefs that made me not believe in myself! I discovered that my body, mind, and spirit are ALL equally important parts of me that all need to be nurtured and loved. I'm still learning. I no longer seek the illusion of perfection, but instead, find peace in the acceptance of being perfect in my imperfections, and this brings me peace. My vagus nerve is now better regulated than it has been after decades of living in fear! My life is now dedicated to learning the art of living bravely, being authentic, and embodying love, joy and peace, even through the challenges that will inevitably arise.
And to inspire others to do the same.
